Topshop Unique Fall 2013

Oooh my... have you guys seen the Topshop Unique Fall 2013 show yet? It's amazing! I am so in love with the colour combinations, choice of textures and styling. This year they teamed up with google+ and created a fantastic experience with cameras from different angles... even a view from a models purse! I've included a video in this post for those of you who haven't seen it yet... or want to watch it again ;) Also - pictures of some of my favourite looks for the show! Not so impressed with the prints and intarsia knits (really like the blue colour though), but over all a nice collection of cool looks.

L'Wren Scott is an an American fashion stylist, designer and former model. You might have seen her with Mick Jagger on some occasions? Back in 2006 the stylist to stars from Jennifer Lopez to Sharon Stone launched her first collection. L'Wren has a fantastic sense of style and I've admired her work for a while now. I was amazed when i saw her fall 08 collection. Absolutely breathtaking! "It's a little rock music, and the moon at the Loire Valley," Scott said of her fall inspirations.

Why do I love this collection? The rows of brass buttons look really classy. I also love the slim and graphic silhouette, chic coats and jackets, the black cardigan with a fleur-de-lis motif paired with the gold miniskirt and the elegant cocktail dresses. The Christian Louboutin-designed shoes too. I really like the hair and make-up as well.

Lanvin RTW S/S 08

Elbaz has done it again and produced a wonderful collection for Lanvin. I love the simplicity and the movement of the delicate fabrics. All the outfits look really chic and the balloon dresses were really spectacular on the runway. In addition to all the wonderful dresses were tux dressing, shirts, togas, pencil skirts, and even some of the season's best fluid pants. When Elbaz came out to take his bow, there was a well deserved roar of applause from the audience. One word -spectacular.

Christian Lacroix, spring 2008

In my opinion Christian Lacroix is a genius and I've always admired his work. His fall 2006 collection was fantastic, so was the spring ready to wear collection the same year and all the 2007 collections impressed me as well.... but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed with his collection for spring 2008. Sure, there was a few pieces that carried the flavor of Lacroix -like the wonderful large bangles and crazy hats. But to be honest, I expected more from Lacroix for spring 2008. I've looked trough the pictures at style.com over and over again, making sure I haven't overlooked something... or maybe I'm just secretly hoping the whole Atlantis theme is going to grow on me. It's Lacroix, yet I can't find anything I'm really excited about... I was expecting to see more bright colours. Lace. Modern high heels. Personally I'm not so crazy about the prints. Oh well...





But let us look at the bright side! Even though the ready to wear collection was a bit disappointing, his couture collection looks fabulous! Not only that -he has designed a line for online store, laredoute.fr! They have also made a really fun website where you can navigate Lily Cole around in a Lacroix landscape.

There are so many gorgeous strapless minidresses this spring and I really hope some good lookalikes will make their way to the shops...

Some comments on Chanel Pre-Fall 2008...

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas eve with good company, fantastic food and amazing presents. I'm quite happy about how Christmas turned out this year and now I'm looking forward to New Year's Eve. But even though the new year is just around the corner and the spring 2008 collections have been around for a while now, I still don't feel like writing about spring fashion. I'm sure the weather will be quite unpleasant the next couple of months and only the thought of wearing shorts brings chills up my spine. So, instead, I've been looking trough the Pre-Fall 2008 collections. The outfits from Chanel stole quite a lot of my attention and I think I've spent the last hour or so looking trough the photos and studying all the details with interest.

I'm not sure if I like this collection at all, but there has to be a reason why I find these outfits so interesting. Have you ever felt like this about a collection? That you can't really decide if you like it, or not? Of course you have. Well, that's how I feel about this pre-fall. Is there anything that blows my mind about this collection? No. Do I think there something about the outfits that really stand out? No, not really. Has this all been done before? Yes, or at least some of it. But then on the other hand, does the collection have some interesting pieces? Yes, absolutely. Would I like to wear some of these things? Okay, so the answer to this one is quite obvious... of course I would -it's Chanel. But anyway...


One of the things I absolutely adore with this pre-fall has to be the amazing collection of shoes. If I could trot around in a pair of purple, or the cool pair of black and white flat shoes I would feel like the luckiest person in the world. If Santa Claus really loved be, they should have been under my Christmas tree by now! The silver platform shoes look amazing as well. I had to smile when I saw that some of the shoes resembles Norwegian 'bunadsko' worn with the national costume. Maybe I should start wearing them as my everyday shoes, but I'm sure I would get quite a lot of strange looks here in Norway. People would probably wonder why on earth someone would want to wear uncomfortable bunadsko without their national costume :P





The knit skirts are interesting too. I really want the short one in the middle picture. The shape of the skirts and dresses in this collection are interesting. I like the sort of balloon shape and then fitted at the bottom. I'm a little unsure how good they would look with warm wool tights though...


Ooooh, interesting hair! I really like this hairdo, even though I could never wear anything like it myself because I'm so tall. But I guess it's good for anyone who wants to add some extra height ;) But what I don't get is the sort of sweatband looking thing she has around the top (third picture)... is this some sort of attempt to bring Cory Kennedy's style to the catwalk? It looks ridiculous. Bleh.

Now, a thing I don't like about the collection at all. What's up with the tacky eyeliner? I'm sorry, but the Amy Whinehouse look has never appealed to me. I know it's supposed to look like they've just slapped it on without caring. Rebellious. Decadent. Whatever. It just isn't working for me. It's just too much and the make-up looks trashy.
