Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in a while... guess what?!
I' now have a domain for my blog. So I've been busy trying to figure out how to use wordpress and everything. You can find my posts here and I'll write in Norwegian from now on. Still, I hope I won't loose those of you who have been reading my blog in English. I really appreciate all your nice comments and it's so great to connect with people who are interested in fashion from all over the world. I was so happy to see Norwegian Kristian Aadnevik on style.com's list of this season's most promising talents. He's without doubt my favourite of the ten they mentioned. But Hannah Marshall's designs also caught my eye. Her designs are cool and edgy. Rock chick without looking trashy. Every girl needs a little black dress -so why not make it a Hannah Marshall?

How many of you read The Clothes Horse? I'm guessing quite a few, but if you haven't discovered this wonderful blog yet I suggest you add it to your blogroll asap.
Anyway the reason why I'm mentioning her here is her latest outfits. They are just fantastic! She looks like a girl you would see sitting at a chic cafe in the heart of Paris. Really inspiring :)

Looks like I'm not the only one who had my eye on the wonderful Mulberry bag I blogged about a while ago. Here we have Pixie carrying that little (or well, big) piece of heaven over her shoulder. Lucky girl! I wish Bob Geldof was my dad so I could have all the Mulberry bags I wanted in the world. As much as I love the red one I think the blue one would look much cooler with the blazer she's wearing in the picture. And it looks a bit flat... she should stuff some newspaper in it or something.

Maja celebrated her 19th birthday so we went to her place this Saturday. Finally got the chance to wear my new silk top from Zara. After a few drinks I was attacked with a hairbrush. It looks fried. Not so much hot candy cotton hair. Maybe it's time to get a haircut? ;)

I have a really big test tomorrow so I stayed home today studying. It's sort of strange how I still feel a need to tell my mother everything even though I've moved out. I called her this morning and was like, "mom... just thought you should know I'm not going to school today." Then I went downstairs and had ice cream for breakfast. Yay! Anyway. The store I work at has a lot of stuff on sale -75% off! So I bought some new stuff. I still haven't bought a new camera, but I managed to take some pictures with my old one... even though it's still making strange sounds and you have to press the button for like 5 minutes to take a picture. Everything in the pictures is from the store I work at except the black high waisted mini (from laredoute... really happy with it!) and grey leggings (from only). Btw, never buy leggings from only. I bought five pairs without trying them on first and the quality is really bad. Their long tank tops are great though.

I'm all settled in! It's so exciting to finally live on my own. The only problem is that my room here is about half the size I'm used to at home, so it's hard to decide what stuff to bring to the new place and what to leave in my old room. I still have some pictures, another mirror and shelves left... and an empty wall. I'm not sure what to put there yet... maybe I should just leave it empty, or put up the black and white editorials I had in my old room (see pictures) So, what do you guys think? The cellphone pictures are horrible, but I still haven't bought a new camera.

I haven't updated in a few days because I've been busy moving to my new place. I'm really happy with my new place... the only problem is finding room for all my clothes and purses. But oh well :P

A few days ago Fashion's Not A Hobby It's A Lifestyle posted some pictures of Emma Watson from the Burberry & Vanity Fair Portraits VIP event. I'm impressed! Looks like sweet little Hermoine has turned into a stylish lady. To be honest I've never been a big fan of her, but she does look great in these pictures...

Oslo Fashion Week: Vips

When the Undorn show ended we had some time to kill before the Vips show started , so we went to a cafe to get something to drink and eat. When we went back to Posthallen it was the same procedure as last time -only this time we had to wait outside in the cold a little longer.

Finally, we got inside. I noticed this was completely different from the Undorn show. There were waitresses running around making sure everyone had something to drink. As soon as I finished my first drink, I was offered another one. Now, that's how I like it! There was also a table with mineral water for the extra thirsty ;) A lady handed me a box of little i mints with a mirror inside -might come in handy! It's so unattractive when people have food between their teeth. Having clean teeth is important... fresh peppermint breath doesn't hurt either.

There was also more people at the Vips show. When we walked in there were people everywhere. Talking. Enjoying their drinks. I couldn't help noticing some of the things people were wearing. A bald man walked pass me wearing a vest that looked like roadkill patched together. Or maybe it was an old fur coat he bought from the salvation army and then just decided to cut the sleeves off? Did it look good? No. But I applaud him for making an effort though. He looked a lot more interesting than some of the other people there. And I think he sat down at the front row... wonder who he iiiiiss..... hmmm.

Anyway, we sat down at the second row close to the photographers. I thought the view would be quite good from our seats -but no, not really.

Then the show started! "The return of the crazy housewife and the funky handyman." First there was a short retro film interviewing Swedish housewives -what's the hardest work at home? At the end there was a joke about a machine that would do all the housework for them. One of the photographers started laughing out really really loud and everyone turned around giving him strange looks. Okay it was funny, but not that funny...

When the film ended a loud vacuuming sound filled the room. A model appeared somewhere from the audience and started vacuuming the catwalk in high heels and a really cool outfit. It was a great way to start the show. After this performance the music started playing and models came down the catwalk. They looked fierce and the choreography was really fun.

The purses! Where do I start?! They all looked amazing. Just look at the pictures. All the details, colours, shapes... exquisite. The thing that really caught my attention was the brown leather belt with a flower shaped detail in a darker shade of brown. I'll have to save some money so I can buy it this fall. A cheap copy simply won't do. And who could avoid noticing the huge leather bag? It came in two different (but equally beautiful) colours. Choosing only one would be really hard. The "quilt" purse was amazing as well. It reminds me of a purse I found at my grandmothers place -only ten times better.

Vips also launched their first collection for men. You have to admit the funky handyman looks pretty hot ;) Practical and stylish bags... now you know what to get your boyfriend/dad/brother for Christmas this year.

I wish I could rewind and experience this show again. That's how great it was.

Oslo Fashion Week: Undorn

It's impossible to get anywhere on time in Olso if you don't know your way around so we decided to take a cab to Posthallen. When we arrived there were already some people lined up and we had to wait outside for a while. Then they checked out names on the guest list before we were allowed inside. I can see why they chose Posthallen for Oslo Fashion Week -it's a really nice place. The only seats left where in the back but the view was great. While we waited for the show to start we saw a couple of people who stole giftbags from the reserved seats. Can you believe it?! hilarious. At the row in front of us two guys actually sat down, took the gift bags and then left before the show started... wtf?! How rude. Naturally this became the main topic of conversation while we waited. The show was a little delayed so we had time to snap a couple of pictures too.

Finally everyone settled down, the music started playing and gorgeous models appeared on the catwalk. The hairstyles and make-up looked really cool and the clothes were fantastic. The short dresses with cropped jackets were my personal favorites. I doubt I could ever afford anything from Undorn but I'll definitely try wearing something like it this fall. I also loved the little black dress worn with a thin dark green leather belt and purse. I never imagined black and dark green could look so great together. The gowns looked great as well with bare backs and tied behind the neck. It was hard not to notice the bright red satin shoes -they looked great! I'm quite disappointed I couldn't find a decent picture of them online... why didn't the photographers from Henne Magazine take close-up pictures? Argh, annoying.

Yesterday I read at henne.no that one of my favourite designers, Kristian Aadnevik is going to rock Milan with his collection. Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Kristian Aadnevik. Sigh, perfect. I can't wait to read the review and see pictures from his show. According to the article he has used materials like chiffon, silk, fur, wool and leather. When it comes to colours we're speaking a lot of fuchsia, black, silver, gold and metallics. Style keywords: sexy, Gothic, rock. Excited yet?!

Oslo Fashion Week!

I was invited to Oslo Fashion Week by Vips and Undorn, so last weekend me and two of my best friends decided to go to Oslo. The trip went really well and we had so much fun. After driving (well, my friends did. I don't have my license :P) all the way to Oslo we arrived late on Friday. After parking the car we decided to stay in the apartment and order some pizza.

On Saturday we got up early to get some shopping done before going to see the shows. It's impossible to drive around Oslo so we went to catch a bus... but the bus never came. We didn't have any time to loose and called a taxi instead. When we finally got down town we went to eat breakfast at 'Godt Brød' (translated: good bread) - a really nice place where you can get delicious sandwiches. It felt so good to eat a healthy meal after all the pizza, chips and candy from yesterday.

After finishing our sandwiches and herb tea we went to Zara. I love Zara and it's so sad they don't have a store in Kristiansand. They have so many nice clothes and purses, don't you agree?
Anyway, I bought a gorgeous silk top. Afterwards we went to some other stores and Gina Tricot, where I spent about $100 on tops, bracelets etc. I'll post some pictures of the stuff I bought when I get a new camera.

Time went by and we headed back to the apartment to get ready. I straightened my hair (no not really. My friend had to do it for me...) for the occasion. The Undorn show started at six and then later we went to see the Vips show. I'll write more about the shows later! Unfortunately you had to be over 20 to attend the official OFW party at Grand Hotel later that night, so we went to eat at t.g.i friday's instead. The food was greeeeaaaat!

Anyone else loving Tanya Dziahileva in the February issue of Vogue Russia?! She looks sensational!!! I can't believe she's only 17! The cover really grabbed my attention and I've spent all morning looking trough pictures of her at style.com and the 'Tanya Dziahileva' tread at the fashion spot. This otherworldly beauty has quickly become one of my favourite models. She looks so glamorous in this editorial and I adore the bright coloured clothes. A simple black & white striped shirt with long sleeves.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about getting a simple shirt with black and white horizontal stripes. But in a way, finding simple things is really hard. I'm always very picky about what I'm looking for. If it isn't exactly how I've imagined it then I won't buy it.... or I'll buy it and then regret it later. If I could just find the perfect shirt. L'Wren Scott is an an American fashion stylist, designer and former model. You might have seen her with Mick Jagger on some occasions? Back in 2006 the stylist to stars from Jennifer Lopez to Sharon Stone launched her first collection. L'Wren has a fantastic sense of style and I've admired her work for a while now. I was amazed when i saw her fall 08 collection. Absolutely breathtaking! "It's a little rock music, and the moon at the Loire Valley," Scott said of her fall inspirations.

Why do I love this collection? The rows of brass buttons look really classy. I also love the slim and graphic silhouette, chic coats and jackets, the black cardigan with a fleur-de-lis motif paired with the gold miniskirt and the elegant cocktail dresses. The Christian Louboutin-designed shoes too. I really like the hair and make-up as well.

Lanvin RTW S/S 08

Elbaz has done it again and produced a wonderful collection for Lanvin. I love the simplicity and the movement of the delicate fabrics. All the outfits look really chic and the balloon dresses were really spectacular on the runway. In addition to all the wonderful dresses were tux dressing, shirts, togas, pencil skirts, and even some of the season's best fluid pants. When Elbaz came out to take his bow, there was a well deserved roar of applause from the audience. One word -spectacular.

Some new stuff

It's been a while since I made a post like this, which is sort of sad because I buy new things all the time that I would love to show you. But the thing is my camera isn't working anymore. Tequila, salt, lemon juice and what not has eventually taken its toll on my beloved Olympus U-Mini. These days my camera is living it's own life, attacking people with it's furious flash, making scary sounds like "tzzzzttsszzzz" and "bzakakaKAKAKA!!".....sigh. This means I'll have to get a new camera. At the moment I'll have to use my cellphone, so bare with me.

I bought this scarf at Indiska a while ago. Thought it was on sale, but no. The colour, size and quality is perfect and I wear it all the time. These pictures doesn't show all of it but I don't want to be the girl who takes mirror shots hiding my face behind the camera, trying to look trendy. And no make-up!!! *cringe* that's a first ;) ...hmm I really need to get my brows done before fashion week.

Again, lousy pictures. The purple top is from cubus and I was thinking of buying it. Turns out my friend bought it but wasn't happy with it, so she gave it to me. I wore it last weekend with my new earrings.

New flats and bag :) The flats were pretty cheap and aren't made of real leather, so it will be interesting to see if they are uncomfortable to wear or not this spring. The bag on the other hand is made from real leather and was 50% OFF!!! It was quite expensive but nothing compared to what the price was before.

I ordered this a while a go and picked it up at the post office, but haven't used it yet.... the blue pilates gymball is hilariously fun to play with though, yay :D

Karina Kjenner Titze, spring/summer 2008

THE DESIGNER: The Norwegian designer Karina Kjenner Titze (27) graduated from Esmond -Ecole Supérleure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode. At the Esmond diploma show Titze managed to get noticed as a student when she impressed everyone with eleven gorgeous outfits instead of the required three. She received "Gullnålen" (the gold needle) for all the effort she put in her work as a student. As soon as three days later she arranged her first fashion show outside the school. Today Titze owns her own showroom in Oslo, Norway where you are welcome to buy Undorn designs. It is also possible to create your own design, made by measurements and in fabrics of your personal choice.

In an interview with her in an issue of tekstilforum (nr.8, 2005) she said this about her first year in the Norwegian fashion industry: "the last year has been hard work 24/7. In addition to design projects I've had to take other jobs to make ends meet. I sell lottery tickets over the phone two nights a week while I sew. Work is everything to me. No matter where I go or who I meet, I'm a designer." Fortunately things have changed for Titze and she now has about five good coworkers who help her make things work.

STYLE: "Undorn is the thought behind all the clothes I design. It can be interpreted in many different ways, but as development, change and that one has different needs at different times." says Titze about her designs. All her designs are fantasticly glamorous and are made from soft, clear silk fabrics.

SPRING COLLECTION: Her latest collection was all about beautiful gowns, refined surroundings and glamor. The dresses looked romantic and seductive and one of the models was wearing a ridiculously expensive diamond necklace and earrings from Mont Blanc. Gorgeous pieces for formal events and more relaxed occasions.

Christian Lacroix, spring 2008

In my opinion Christian Lacroix is a genius and I've always admired his work. His fall 2006 collection was fantastic, so was the spring ready to wear collection the same year and all the 2007 collections impressed me as well.... but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed with his collection for spring 2008. Sure, there was a few pieces that carried the flavor of Lacroix -like the wonderful large bangles and crazy hats. But to be honest, I expected more from Lacroix for spring 2008. I've looked trough the pictures at style.com over and over again, making sure I haven't overlooked something... or maybe I'm just secretly hoping the whole Atlantis theme is going to grow on me. It's Lacroix, yet I can't find anything I'm really excited about... I was expecting to see more bright colours. Lace. Modern high heels. Personally I'm not so crazy about the prints. Oh well...

But let us look at the bright side! Even though the ready to wear collection was a bit disappointing, his couture collection looks fabulous! Not only that -he has designed a line for online store, laredoute.fr! They have also made a really fun website where you can navigate Lily Cole around in a Lacroix landscape.

I guess I'm not the only one who has a distant dream of living in New York City one day, right? The strange thing is I've actually never been in NY (or well, once. But that doesn't count considering the fact that I was a child and don't remember much). Why not Paris? Milan? Warsaw? Copenhagen? Stockholm? Berlin? Reykjavik?... places I've actually been to. I'm not saying these cities doesn't have their charm, but there's just something about New York. I guess those of you who actually live there are a bit tired of hearing about this, no? But maybe the fact that I've never experienced New York is the reason why I wish I lived there. I have this illusion of a fashionable city where you have access to about anything. Impulses from all sorts of different cultures. Sushi for breakfast, cute minidresses, fantastic heels. Fancy nightclubs and fantastic skylines. Interesting people. Fashionable events. Cool art galleries. Sigh. Speaking of New York, in the January issue of VOGUE UK they had an editorial with Lily Cole in urban New York settings. It's photographed by Arthur Elgort and is naturally called "New York Doll". Lily Cole's isn't exactly my favourite model, but her porcelain doll like appearance was fantastic for this shoot.

Lack of updates lately. I've been really busy with school (that means practicing the art of sleeping with my eyes open while sitting up). Anyway, I have many ideas for new posts, so expect to see some soon :) But it looks like I'm having trouble with image hosting... my photobucket bandwidth is exceeded and I don't know if the reason is too many uploaded pictures, or traffic on my blog. I've also uploaded too many pictures on flickr. lol. So, I'll have to figure out what to do about this, I guess. ImageShack sucks and I refuse to use it. Any ideas?? Maybe I should just get my own domain, finally.

So, avoiding spending money isn't working very well for me. I was at work the other day and went to have a look at Indiska when I had my my lunch break... leaving the shop ten minutes later with two shopping bags filled with scarves and jewelry. I wore this scarf and the new gold and orange bracelets today. Scarves, scarves, scarves... my mother is complaining there won't be much storage space left if I keep feeding this addiction. lol.

Speaking of Daphne, I found something else that made me think of her. If you ask me, she could wear everything from the Dior spring 08 collection. I'm not so crazy about the leopard part of the collection, but other than that it looks pretty nice. I love the fact that most of the outfits are black and white... who says spring has to be all about colour? The hats and large earrings look really cool, but the thing that caught my eye was Natasha Poly. She looks stunning in the picture where she's posing in the black bowler hat, vest and classy dress. You all know how I feel about trashy make-up, but it actually looks good on Natasha.

I was recently tagged by Thoroughly Modern to post six items I keep in my bag.

The bag.
One of my big obsessions is bags. Most people know I won't think twice about spending ridiculous amounts of money on a bag if I really want it. That's why I try to stay away from stores in my town that sell wonderful bags and purses. I can't control myself when it comes to bags. On my way to work the other day I noticed Morris was having a big sale and I just had to have a peek. Well, turns out this gorgeous chocolate brown leather bag is 50% off and I JUST HAVE TO HAVE IT. It's still expensive though, so I'll have to work a lot next week to save up the money :(
Anyway, at the moment I'm carrying around this wonderful brown leather bag by Balsac. I bought it over a year ago and still love it just as much as I did back then. I get compliments on it all the time. Like last week when a woman stalked me around H&M and suddenly came up to me, asking where I got it from. I told her and she continued telling me how lovely it was, how long she had been looking for something like it etc. But when she started feeling the leather it got kind of weird, so I left. lol.

Notebook, day-planner and a magazine/good book.
I go to school everyday so naturally I have to carry a notebook and pen with me at all times. Another thing I can't live without is my day-planner. I write all my appointments, homework assignments, tests, work hours, gym classes and personal encounters in it. I'm a total mess without it and don't remember anything. Usually a day without my day-planner results in angry calls and drama. I'm always on the run and usually carry a magazine with me to read on the bus, or when I get bored at school. But at the moment I'm reading "Livstid" (lifetime) by Liza Marklund. It's such an exciting book and I read a few pages whenever I get the time. The story is about a Swedish cop who gets killed in his own home. His wife is charged with murder and found guilty even though she claims she never killed him. Only her friend and a curious journalist believes her... I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Wallet, make-up bag a scarf.
Of course I always have my wallet with me. I feel naked without my credit cards and ID! My wallet is a cheap looking fake LV copy my dad bought for me when he went to Thailand a year ago. I hate it more than anything and I'm quite offended that my dad doesn't know how much I hate fake design stuff. But at the moment I didn't have a wallet and started using it. The only thing I like about it is the size -perfect. Still, I've been looking for a new wallet for a while, but always find something else to spend my money on. And then there's my make-up bag... not that I use a lot of make-up or anything, but I like to have it with me. I'm always running late, so it's nice to dab some mascara on wherever I'm at. Also, a scarf! I love scarves and if I'm not wearing one I have one in my purse, just in case I change my mind. It's such a great accessory. Love.

Everything started in 2005 when the girls were sitting in the park, drinking fine wine and chit chatting. The idyllic mood is abruptly disturbed by the sound of a polyphonic ring tone. While her hands move desperately around the bag in search of the phone, it stops ringing -like so many times before. The idea of creating a more practical purse became the topic of conversation.

A messy purse can be so frustrating! That's why these girls decided to do something about the problem...

Two years later they had managed to get a designer and establish production of the purses in China. In April 2007 the first purses from Vips could be found at stores in cities like Oslo, Asker, Sandvika and Trondheim. Their first collection "Organized Chaos" had everything from small wallets to big laptop purses. Their second collection "Feminine Business" (designed by Helene Westbye) has shoes and belts as well.

Most of their purses are made of leather, but you can also find some models that are made of canvas. For the price of 1000NOK (or more) one of these feminine and practical Vips purses could be yours. Maybe you should visit their online store and have a look?

But Vips isn't just about good looks and practical solutions. They want all their workers to have good working conditions and a fair pay. Vips want to work with producers and suppliers who can fulfill these expectations. On their website it says, "With our producers in China we feel like we're building something together. It's a start -a good start." 30% of their profit goes to projects in India, where they are trying to establish and run their own school.

The other day while I was browsing around dailycandy I came across this wonderful bag from Poketo! The design is colourful and fun, with a print of a LV bag with FAKE written over it. Unfortunately they are limited and sold out, so you can't get it anymore... but Poketo! offers some similar designs (also limited). If I wasn't broke I would buy one right now. Hm, I might have to put my Mastercard to some good use ;) Not likely though, I'm a very responsible girl you see! (or well... my limit is already max-ed out. lol.)

January has to be the most depressing time of year. When I get up in the morning it's dark. When I get home it's dark. So for fun I decided to wear a bit of colour today. I really love this scarf, but hardly ever wear it. Bought it last summer at Rasmus.

I've never been a Guinness fan. It's something about the taste that makes it so different from other types of beer. When I think of Guinness I get this picture of an old drunken man, who's sitting alone in a dark corner of a shabby pub and probably hasn't showered in three days. Maybe people drink it when their taste buds are so destroyed from ten years of chain smoking and drinking that the only beer that actually tastes anything is Guinness. Urgh, it's just horrible! Maybe I'll learn to like Guinness someday but for now I'm sticking to Budweiser, Tuborg and Newcastle Brown Ale. But even tough I think Guinness tastes horrible, I doubt any other beer brand has such a lovely heiress. I've become a secret admirer of Daphne Guinness and her style. She's a wonderful fashion stylist, film producer and, yes, a member of the Guinness brewing family. Known for her elegant and original dress sense and love for couture...

I really enjoyed reading this article about her at timesonline and find everything she has to say about fashion inspiring and refreshing. With LiLo, MK, Paris and occasionally the drunk "it's Britney Bitch" stealing all the spotlight, Daphne is like a long lost treasure. She's the perfect example of what Glam & Tonic is really about. The reason why I created this blog is my admiration to strong, intelligent, glamorous women and their fashion sense. Daphne Guinness being one of them.

I’ve had the same bag for about five years and I can’t be bothered to get another one. So many bags are really heavy – especially those Chloé Paddington things."

So, to sum up what I've learned from Daphne:

Instead of buying new stuff all the time and chasing all the latest trends, spend money on classic, versatile clothes with a great cut. It's better to have one pair of fantastic pants instead of ten you never wear.

Why shouldn't you be able to wear whatever you want any time of day? I think people focus too much on what they are supposed to wear and what's "appropriate". Just because you're going shopping doesn't mean you can't wear the gorgeous new dress you just bought. Put it on and dress it down with a casual cardigan etc.

Maybe it would be fun to attempt creating your own jewelry? Or D.I.Y something to put your own personal stamp on it... maybe not armour, but something else?

If I ever get ridiculous amounts of money, invest in some couture.

And now you probably know what's next... as you all probably know by now I have a polyvore addiction and couldn't resist putting together some Daphne Guinness looks. Even though my personal style is completely different from hers, I would wear all these outfits.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas eve with good company, fantastic food and amazing presents. I'm quite happy about how Christmas turned out this year and now I'm looking forward to New Year's Eve. But even though the new year is just around the corner and the spring 2008 collections have been around for a while now, I still don't feel like writing about spring fashion. I'm sure the weather will be quite unpleasant the next couple of months and only the thought of wearing shorts brings chills up my spine. So, instead, I've been looking trough the Pre-Fall 2008 collections. The outfits from Chanel stole quite a lot of my attention and I think I've spent the last hour or so looking trough the photos and studying all the details with interest.

I'm not sure if I like this collection at all, but there has to be a reason why I find these outfits so interesting. Have you ever felt like this about a collection? That you can't really decide if you like it, or not? Of course you have. Well, that's how I feel about this pre-fall. Is there anything that blows my mind about this collection? No. Do I think there something about the outfits that really stand out? No, not really. Has this all been done before? Yes, or at least some of it. But then on the other hand, does the collection have some interesting pieces? Yes, absolutely. Would I like to wear some of these things? Okay, so the answer to this one is quite obvious... of course I would -it's Chanel. But anyway...

One of the things I absolutely adore with this pre-fall has to be the amazing collection of shoes. If I could trot around in a pair of purple, or the cool pair of black and white flat shoes I would feel like the luckiest person in the world. If Santa Claus really loved be, they should have been under my Christmas tree by now! The silver platform shoes look amazing as well. I had to smile when I saw that some of the shoes resembles Norwegian 'bunadsko' worn with the national costume. Maybe I should start wearing them as my everyday shoes, but I'm sure I would get quite a lot of strange looks here in Norway. People would probably wonder why on earth someone would want to wear uncomfortable bunadsko without their national costume :P

The knit skirts are interesting too. I really want the short one in the middle picture. The shape of the skirts and dresses in this collection are interesting. I like the sort of balloon shape and then fitted at the bottom. I'm a little unsure how good they would look with warm wool tights though...

Ooooh, interesting hair! I really like this hairdo, even though I could never wear anything like it myself because I'm so tall. But I guess it's good for anyone who wants to add some extra height ;) But what I don't get is the sort of sweatband looking thing she has around the top (third picture)... is this some sort of attempt to bring Cory Kennedy's style to the catwalk? It looks ridiculous. Bleh.

Now, a thing I don't like about the collection at all. What's up with the tacky eyeliner? I'm sorry, but the Amy Whinehouse look has never appealed to me. I know it's supposed to look like they've just slapped it on without caring. Rebellious. Decadent. Whatever. It just isn't working for me. It's just too much and the make-up looks trashy.

Me and a friend went to see The Golden Compass today. The movie was great and I can't wait to see the other movies in this adventurous trilogy. The thing I liked the most about the movie was, of course, the clothes. Nicole Kidman looked stunning! I've never been a big fan of her and don't care much for her style... but after seeing this movie... sigh! I wish I could look just like she does in this movie and wear all the fantastic outfits. All the sets and dresses looked so glamorous! I found a few movie stills... I wish I could find some of her outfits and not just her perfect make-up and hair. The golden sequin dress and white outfit she wore in the end of the movie are my two favourites.

Sorry for my lack of updates this week, been terribly busy ;(

To be honest I'm a little disapointed about ADAM + EVE changing the name to ADAM. I don't like the new name, but I'm in love with the collection. There's something about their signature style that has always appealed to me. Sporty and quite tomboyish, yet very feminine. I know it's a little early thinking about spring (at least here in Norway... it's freezing cold outside!), but I just had to share my favourite look for spring. Loose shorts/mini, long v-neck top, black bikini top, cute flats and a nice tailored jacket... sigh... Not sure about the headscarf, but whatever... looks good on the catwalk.

It looks like this is going to be a pretty busy weekend, so sadly I won't have much time to update my blog until Monday. Met up with Inger today, which was great because I haven't seen her in a while. I ate the best chicken bagel ever at this place called Glipp. Also, Kristin went to the hairdresser today and got a perm! A PERM! She's awesome and it looks fantastic on her. I wish I had a picture ;)

Friday: School and then I have to go straight to work. Won't be home earlier than 10 at night. Probably tired, straight to bed.

Saturday: Have to work from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon. Then I'm going out to eat with my dad... I'm in the mood for some Mexican food. Going out with some friends... I think I might drink wine this weekend instead of the usual beer. Hm..

Sunday: Erm, probably a bit hungover. Have to help my uncle with the new apartment and then I've been invited to Malin's place to hang out and make Christmas decorations with some girls from my class. Might be fun.

Sometimes it's just ridiculously amusing to look trough the keyword analysis and read what sort of keywords people have used to find my website. The other day I laughed so hard at some of the keywords and had a 'wtf?!' moment. For some strange reason I get a lot of hair-related hits on my blog...

Okay, fair enough. I've searched hair a couple of times myself. If you're looking for hairstyle inspiration the internet is a great source. I find it really inspiring to look trough the backstage photos at style.com. Here are some of the pictures I have in my lookbook. The first picture of Claudia Merikula from the Tuleh f/w 06 has to be my favourite. The colour of her hair looks fantastic and the make-up is just perfect. Very glam ;) I'm a big fan of long hair and I cry every time I have to cut mine. But short hair works very well for some people. What do you guys prefer, short or long?

Hmmm, well I'm probably not the best person to ask because I've never had much luck with short hair. For a formal dance I guess you would want your hair to look a little more feminine than usual thinking you're probably going to wear a really pretty dress and killer heels. Well, I would go for something like the "hair brooch" from Christian Lacroix's f/w 07 show, or maybe some "feather hair" Nina Ricci style.

I haven't done a lot of shopping lately because I never seem to have the time anymore, but I bought some stuff yesterday. I got my eyebrows done as well and I'm super happy with them! The lady I went to was so nice and did my eyebrows exactly how I wanted them. Afterwards she put on really nice make-up and gave me a free chamomile cream. Now that's what I call service! Unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but I'll just have to find out who she is the next time I'm getting them done. She made me feel pretty, yay :P

Oh yes, the stuff! Well, I bought two new pairs of shoes from Vagabond. I really love this brand because of the quality... and of course their shoes look great too. Another reason why I love Vagabond is because they actually make shoes in bigger sizes for us tall people with big feet ;) It's really hard to find winter shoes that are warm and still look cool, but I'm quite happy with these! I also bought a new scarf (again). Now, some pictures...

It's my birthday! It's sucks having a cold right now because that means I have to stay sober tonight and go to bed early!!! Not so happy about that. Oh well, it's weekend every weekend -right? ;) But I've had a great birthday so far! Mental Blog and thought this would be the perfect day to share some random facts about myself, so here we go...

1) I have a scar under my left eyebrow. When I was younger my pet bunny scratched me somehow :P

2) I'm addicted to tea and drink unhealthy amounts of it every single day...

3) I'm not a big fan of chocolate (I know! Like one in a million...) and never get "sugar kicks". Instead I crave salty snacks and fatty burgers :\

4) I never leave home without a scarf because it's my favourite accessory <3

5) I don't mind making a fool of myself and to be frank people who are annoy me. It's such a waste of time worrying about what strangers think of you, because they really don't care anyway...

6) I'm a big spender. I should be more responsible and think about my future because having some savings would be a big advantage later in life... but there are so many fun things to spend money on. I just can't resist.

7) I hardly ever get jealous and if I do I tell the person. People should learn to be happy when things go well for someone else because jealousy is so self destroying ;)

I miss the days when I could just spend the money I earned on anything I wanted. When I got my paycheck I used to buy some new clothes, maybe a bit of make-up as well and if I had any money left I would buy some more. But lately I have hardly bought any new clothes at all. When I went to London and Manchester the trip cost me quite a lot so I didn't have much money to buy anything while I was there. Then I had to pay my share of the van I bought with some of my friends, which was quite a lot. Like that wasn't enough my school sent me like five bills I had to pay (for books, id card etc.)... my mom even had to help me out with some of them and I can't remember the last time I asked her for money. I was also going on a trip to Oslo with some of my friends, but had to cancel because... well it's expensive. But now I finally have some money on my hands and with my birthday just around the corner I'm expecting a little extra as well :P So I've been thinking a lot about what I'm going to spend my money on... any suggestions? No, saving them is not an option.

Getting my eyebrows done.
I can't remember the last time I went to a saloon and got my eyebrows done. At the moment they are pale, shapeless and in great need of some waxing. I want them to be really dark and thick. I looked trough a magazine the other day and found a picture of a model with really nice eyebrows that I'm bringing with me to the saloon. I hope they can get mine to look somewhat like in the picture.

Finally doing something about my dark roots.
I can't remember the last time I bleached my hair and now the dark roots are getting out of hand. It's gone from 'will do something about it soon' to pure neglect. It looks horrible, just horrible! And I know darker roots are supposed to be trendy right now, but they are showing just a little too much on me. I'm still debating whether I should let my hairdresser do it, or just buy a pack of bleach at the store myself. We'll see...

Going for something more sporty.
I signed up for a membership at the best health center in town and I've started working out regularly. But the thing is I've never really worked out before so my "fitness wardrobe" is in desperate need of some updating. Right now I only have some large cotton tees, tights, old ugly sweatpants... I didn't even have a sports bra until recently! You get the picture, right? I also need a toiletry bag (that's what it's called?) to carry my make-up and things like that in. I work out from 6am-7am in the morning three times a week, so I really need to remember things like shower gel, deodorant and make-up... if not I'm in trouble :P

Find some new shoes to trot around in.
I've been thinking about buying new shoes for a while now. At the moment I just have some pairs of old old converse shoes and flats not suitable for the cold weather. It's impossible to make an outfit look good unless you have the right shoes. I think buying a few pairs will be a good investment ;)

Scarves, scarves, scarves.
I never leave the house without wearing a scarf. The clothing store I work at has the best selection of scarves and shawls in town, so I appreciate the employee discount we get. One of the women I work with once said "you buy scarves more often than other people buy socks, Camilla." Well, it's time to get some new ones!

A new jacket, perhaps?
That would be nice. I have a green jacket i bought in the men's department at H&M... that's about it. I would love a light gray or camel coloured jacket this winter.

This is only the beginning of my list, actually. There are so many things I want to spend money on... so what are you guys buying to update your fall/winter wardrobe?

I feel like I woke up one morning and all of a sudden plaids were everywhere. I don't know exactly what I've missed out on... clothes with plaids haven't exactly been a favourite of mine, even though I desperately wanted a red and black plaid jacket from H&M once.

I don't know exactly why I dislike plaids. Maybe it's because I associate them with awkward plaid skirts i used to wear when I was younger, or perhaps there's some other reason...

Anyway how do you feel about this trend?

I went ahead and made a few outfits with polyvore to convince myself plaids can be wearable. I would actually wear these...

And everyone is talking about the television show based on the gossip girl books. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear the actors wear lots of pretty clothes. I hope it airs in Norway soon... if not I'll have to download some episodes ;) Anyway, I found this screenshot of one of the actors when I was reading & For The Love Of Fashion today. A great way to wear plaids :)

Fierce Factor is a new competition on livejournal to find aspiring stylist. Each cycle has six rounds and there are four different types of challenges:

The contestants will be styling outfits for "clients" such as celebrities, television personalities and models.

All the contestants will have to work with a piece of clothing, or some sort of accessory and create their own outfit around it.

The contestants will get descriptions of scenarios/events and do their best to come up with an outfit for it.

Trends. The contestants create outfits showing how to wear the decided trend.

With each challenge, one person will be the winner, and one person will be eliminated.
Who's the winner and eliminated is decided by votes from the community members and judges.

You don't need any graphic skills to compete in this contest -simply a polyvore.com account so you can put outfits together with a few simple clicks. If you don't have a polyvore account you can sign up for free, or simply provide links to the items you use for your outfit.

Hate shopping for jeans?

If there's one thing I don't like about shopping it has to be looking for jeans. Finding the right pair of jeans is just so hard. I'm very tall so if everything fits perfectly the legs are usually too short. If that's not the problem, then the colour of the denim is all wrong. And just when I believe I've found the right pair of jeans they turn out to be too big and start sagging when it's too late to return them... sigh... anyway, there are websites that can make the jeans problem a little easier. My personal favourite has to be zafu.com. It's site where you can plug your measurements, height, weight, answer a few simple questions about your jeans and how you like them to fit and it pulls some for you. I did a quick search and they found 21 jeans I can now consider :D
Nice? Nice.

To be honest, I really like stylemob. It's much better than stylediary and the people there are more fashionable. I'm not as active there as I would like to be because I never remember to take pictures of what I'm wearing... and lately I haven't done much shopping so my wardrobe is rather uninteresting :P Anyway, the website is great if you're looking for inspiration! Here are a few of my favourites at the moment...

I love elocin's grey outfit. The minidress is really cute, don't you think? I'm also a big fan of scarves and knit hats. Personally, I've never really solved the mystery on how to look good with hats, but this girl obviously has. The boots are cute too :)

Lindsay at stylemob has some great pictures of her outfits. I especially love this one of her wearing purple tights. They look awesome with the simple white dress and golden necklace. I've been looking for some purple tights for a while now. When I buy and wear them with something I'll post pictures, for sure ;)

The site has a big selection of tees with cute designs with a 22 euros price tag. Back when I was active on livejournal I used to make posts when I bought something new. A few days ago I found some old pictures when I browsed trough some of my old posts. I also noticed that I've never actually shared any of the things I've bought at Glam & Tonic, so I thought why not post the pictures here? ;)

So if you knew me you would know that I'm obsessed with bags and purses. When I have some extra money to spend I always end up with a new bag. Last year I bought this big brown leather bag from Belsac. It cost me $485.59, but I've used it a lot and it was worth the money.

And when Oasis were having a sale this summer I bought these two silk tops. They where 30% off, I think. I don't have a lot of things in my wardrobe that goes well with these so I've only worn them to a couple of parties.

These are both from Cubus. The blue top was only $7 on sale! I still wear it, but the dress cleavage looks strange so I haven't used it a lot.

I couldn't decide which colour, so I bought both.

Hairy thoughts

So lately the only thing that's been on my mind is hair. I think the reason why I've become so obsessed is because I was so unhappy when I got my new haircut recently. I hate the fringe, it's too short and now I'm unhappy with the colour too. It's just too blonde. I used to bleach it at home so the highlights look fat and uneven. Then I just gave up on it and now I have really dark roots. I'm saving my hair for a while now, but in November I'm getting a new colour. For a while I considered colouring my hair in a really dark chocolate brown colour like I used to have it a few years ago... but then I have to colour it all the time to keep it looking shiny and fresh... not into that. I want a slightly darker colour -something between blonde and brunette. A warm colour. So I browsed trough some MK photos and I just love the colour she used to have a while back. If I can get something that looks a little similar to this that would be great <3

Our van!

Okay, so this doesn't have anything to do with fashion... but I still feel like sharing <3 Recently me and some friends bought a van for our graduation celebration. It's called RUSS and is a long tradition here in Norway. Our school colour is red -which explains the colour of the van. We are traveling in this to all the different RUSS events taking place all over the country in May '08. We're so excited!

I got a thing for purple

It's a mysterious colour. Purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. Purple has a special place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. It's said that a purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing colour. Because purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color it has both warm and cool properties. Deep or bright purples suggest riches while lighter purples are more romantic and delicate. Use redder purples for a warmer color scheme or the bluer purples to cool down. Green and purple can be a striking combination in deep or bright jewel tones or use lighter shades for a cheerful, springlike feel. Pink and purple has feminine appeal.
If you get it right you'll make quite an impression.

ON THE RUNWAY
Purple has been everywhere on the fall runway. At DKNY Chanel Iman was wearing a very cute purple mini and short jacket with a sequined top. At Versace my favourite model, Hilary Rhoda, was wearing a beautiful purple gown and Tracy Reese had some cute outfits -one of them being this one with dotted stockings.

While I was browsing Facehunter the other day I found some pictures of these beautiful people. My favourite picture has to be the girl in the purple dress who's holding an orchid... how cool is that? Pictures from facehunter -of course.

HOW TO WEAR IT

I'm not a big fan of wearing purple with black because I think it looks too dark and Gothic. Instead of wearing black try something like a really nice pair of dark denim jeans and a cropped jacket. This really cute top from French Connection has an interesting print and by adding mustard coloured accessories this outfit really comes together. The high sandal wedges from Topshop are fantastic! Instead of wearing pumps these will give you a sporty and urban look :) Product details can be found here.

A deep eggplant purple with neutral tans or beige is an earthy, conservative color combination with a touch of the mystery that purple provides. You can also add a few pink accessories to get a more trendy look -like this scarf and one of the bangles. Product details can be found here.

Ideally this warm purple colour would go better with a warmer metallic -like gold or bronze- but I actually think this grey mini and silver accessories go well with it. A pair of bright purple tights will bring that little extra to your outfit. product details can be found here.
